How much is a Alakazam card worth?

There are 21 English Alakazam cards, spread over 16 sets between 1999 and 2025. The first was Alakazam in Base, 9 January 1999, drawn by Ken Sugimori in the very first English sets. 5 of them come from 1999–2000, and those trade in a different world from everything printed since — which is why one number for “Alakazam” means nothing until you know which of the 21 you are holding.

What we pay is a different number. These are TCGplayer market prices, worked out from recent sales between collectors, read 2026-09-08. What a buyer pays is always less than what a collector pays, and it turns on the condition of the card in your hand — which is why you get our number on the phone, in one call, before anything is posted.

What decides the number

Five things about your Alakazam, in order of how much they matter.

  1. Which printing. Alakazam spans 16 sets, from Base in 1999 to Mega Evolution in 2025, and the set symbol beside the picture is what tells one from another before anything else about the card is worth discussing.
  2. First edition and shadowless. 5 of the 21 date from 1999–2000, and on a Alakazam of that age the small “1 Edition” stamp left of the art, or a frame throwing no drop shadow down the right of the picture, is worth more than everything else on this list put together.
  3. Which card type. A Alakazam ex and a Alakazam Dark are different cards that happen to share a name — Alakazam has been printed as 5 types in all, so the word beside Alakazam at the top decides which of the 21 you own.
  4. Promo stamps. 2 of the 21 Alakazam cards were promos rather than pack pulls, and a black star, a tournament stamp or a set-launch mark in the corner is what turns an otherwise ordinary Alakazam into the scarce one.
  5. The Radiant ones. 1 Alakazam card carries the Radiant treatment, printed deliberately short — if the word Radiant sits before Alakazam on your card, that is the first thing to tell us.
  • Most Alakazam cards are Rare Holo — 8 of the 21.
  • Ken Sugimori has illustrated Alakazam more than anyone else, 6 times.
  • 151 carries the most Alakazam cards of any single set (3).
  • Alakazam has been printed under 5 card types: ex (modern), Dark, V, owner’s card, Radiant.
  • No Alakazam card was printed at all for 12 years, 2007 to 2019.
  • 5 of the 21 Alakazam cards come from 1999–2000, the printings collectors ask after most.
  • 10 different illustrators have drawn Alakazam.
  • 26 years separate the first Alakazam card from the newest.
