What is your Pokémon card worth? Prices from raw to PSA 10

Across the 1,334 cards of these 25 Pokémon that PriceCharting prices ungraded, the middle card is about $23, a quarter are under $6 and 77% are under $100. A PSA 10 of the same card is a median 30 times its ungraded price — but a PSA 10 is a flawless grade and the exception, not what to expect of a card that has been in a binder. These figures cover these 25 Pokémon only.

Pick the Pokémon on the card. Each page lists every English card of it in the Pokémon TCG API’s card list, which our pages are built from — 1,360 cards across these 25, back to 1999 — with a picture, the set, the number and PriceCharting’s price at every grade. Then call and we will price the one in your hand.

Before you look anything up

Find your card in three steps

  1. The set symbol. A small mark beside or under the picture tells you which set the card came from, and the set is the first thing that separates one printing of a Pokémon from another. The original Base Set has no symbol at all, which is itself the answer.
  2. The card number. In a bottom corner, printed like 4/102. Every Pokémon page here has a box that finds a card by that number, because a name alone does not: one set can hold 6 different cards with the same name — BREAKthrough has 6 called “Mewtwo-EX”.
  3. The 1st Edition stamp, and on Base Set the shadow. On cards from 1999 to 2002, look just left of the bottom of the picture for a small black “1 Edition” stamp. On Base Set, look at the right edge of the picture frame too: no drop shadow there means a Shadowless printing. The same Base Set Charizard, #4, is three different prices ungraded on PriceCharting: 1st Edition about $10,268, Shadowless about $954, Unlimited about $345.

Are old Pokémon cards worth money?

Some are, and which printing decides it. These 25 Pokémon have 213 cards from 1999 to 2003; PriceCharting prices 210 of them ungraded, the middle one at about $61 against $19 for the middle card printed since 2004, and 72 of them are $100 or more. Where a card was printed in a 1st Edition run, the 1st Edition is a median 4 times its Unlimited printing ungraded (83 cards with both priced).

Selling more than one

A binder, not one card?

You do not have to look every card up first. Read us the sets and a rough count, and anything graded, and you get a price on that call from the person who buys them. We handle and pay the shipping and film the offer; if we re-quote when the cards arrive and you say no, we pay the return too. How to sell a Pokémon card collection walks through it step by step.
