Dragonite · 34 cards · 1999–2023

How much is a Dragonite card worth?

There are 34 English Dragonite cards, spread over 24 sets between 1999 and 2023. It did not debut in a booster pack at all: the first was Dragonite in Wizards Black Star Promos, 1 July 1999, handed out during the very first English sets. 5 of them come from 1999–2000, and those trade in a different world from everything printed since — which is why one number for “Dragonite” means nothing until you know which of the 34 you are holding.

What we pay is a different number. These are TCGplayer market prices, worked out from recent sales between collectors, read 2026-09-08. What a buyer pays is always less than what a collector pays, and it turns on the condition of the card in your hand — which is why you get our number on the phone, in one call, before anything is posted.

What decides the number

Five things about your Dragonite, in order of how much they matter.

  1. Which printing. Dragonite spans 24 sets, from Wizards Black Star Promos in 1999 to 151 in 2023, and the set symbol beside the picture is what tells one from another before anything else about the card is worth discussing.
  2. First edition and shadowless. 5 of the 34 date from 1999–2000, and on a Dragonite of that age the small “1 Edition” stamp left of the art, or a frame throwing no drop shadow down the right of the picture, is worth more than everything else on this list put together.
  3. Which card type. A Dragonite V and a Dragonite Dark are different cards that happen to share a name — Dragonite has been printed as 7 types in all, so the word beside Dragonite at the top decides which of the 34 you own.
  4. Promo stamps. 4 of the 34 Dragonite cards were promos rather than pack pulls, and a black star, a tournament stamp or a set-launch mark in the corner is what turns an otherwise ordinary Dragonite into the scarce one.
  5. The Delta Species ones. 1 Dragonite card carries the Delta Species treatment, printed deliberately short — if the word Delta Species sits before Dragonite on your card, that is the first thing to tell us.
  • Most Dragonite cards are Rare Holo — 13 of the 34.
  • Mitsuhiro Arita has illustrated Dragonite more than anyone else, 6 times.
  • Pokémon GO carries the most Dragonite cards of any single set (4).
  • Dragonite has been printed under 7 card types: V, Dark, VSTAR, ex (2003–07), Light, Delta Species.
  • 5 of the 34 Dragonite cards come from 1999–2000, the printings collectors ask after most.
  • 19 different illustrators have drawn Dragonite.
  • 24 years separate the first Dragonite card from the newest.
