Mew · 44 cards · 1999–2024
How much is a Mew card worth?
There are 44 English Mew cards, spread over 29 sets between 1999 and 2024. It did not debut in a booster pack at all: the first was Mew in Wizards Black Star Promos, 1 July 1999, handed out during the very first English sets. It has carried 6 of the game's card types over the years — ex, V, VMAX, ex — and a collector will pay wildly different money for each.

What we pay is a different number. These are TCGplayer market prices, worked out from recent sales between collectors, read 2026-09-08. What a buyer pays is always less than what a collector pays, and it turns on the condition of the card in your hand — which is why you get our number on the phone, in one call, before anything is posted.
Spaced by ratio, not by dollars, so the cheap end stays readable. Tap a handle to jump to that card. 13 of the 44 have no market price on file.

What decides the number
Five things about your Mew, in order of how much they matter.
- Which printing. Mew spans 29 sets, from Wizards Black Star Promos in 1999 to Paldean Fates in 2024, and the set symbol beside the picture is what tells one from another before anything else about the card is worth discussing.
- First edition and shadowless. 3 of the 44 date from 1999–2000, and on a Mew of that age the small “1 Edition” stamp left of the art, or a frame throwing no drop shadow down the right of the picture, is worth more than everything else on this list put together.
- Which card type. A Mew ex and a Mew V are different cards that happen to share a name — Mew has been printed as 6 types in all, so the word beside Mew at the top decides which of the 44 you own.
- Promo stamps. 9 of the 44 Mew cards were promos rather than pack pulls, and a black star, a tournament stamp or a set-launch mark in the corner is what turns an otherwise ordinary Mew into the scarce one.
- The Shining ones. 1 Mew card carries the Shining treatment, printed deliberately short — if the word Shining sits before Mew on your card, that is the first thing to tell us.
- Most Mew cards are Promo — 9 of the 44.
- Ken Sugimori has illustrated Mew more than anyone else, 5 times.
- Fusion Strike carries the most Mew cards of any single set (6).
- Mew has been printed under 6 card types: ex (modern), V, VMAX, ex (2003–07), Delta Species, Shining.
- No Mew card was printed at all for 3 years, 2013 to 2016.
- 3 of the 44 Mew cards come from 1999–2000, the printings collectors ask after most.
- 26 different illustrators have drawn Mew.
- 25 years separate the first Mew card from the newest.
